Learn how to use purchased graphics in Canva in just a few steps and customize your projects.
In today’s tutorial we will guide you on how to use purchased graphics in Canva. Create impressive posts for your social media and draw in the viewer’s attention. If you have an extensive graphics library, then we will show you how to use them in Canva.
The graphics we are using today are from this cartoon cat clipart bundle. We also have a purrfectly excellent selection of Cartoon Cat PNG graphics for you to browse through.
We are using the Free Version of Canva for this tutorial.
Step 1 - Choose a Canva Template
Log into Canva and on the Home page, click on the icon Create a Design. This will bring up a menu of template sizes. We chose the Instagram Post.

Once clicked, this will open another window. On the left side, click on Templates. We will be using our cat graphics with a pet style template. In the Search bar at the top, type in Pet and all pet related templates will pop up.
Now choose a template that you want to use.

Step 2 - Upload your Graphics to Canva
In Canva, uploading your graphics is a quick and easy process. On the left side click on the Uploads icon.
Next, click on Upload media, locate your files and click to open. You can select all the files like we did or Ctrl + click to select individual files. Once uploaded, you files will appear on the left side.

Step 3 - Use your Purchased Graphics in Canva
Before we start adding our graphics to the template, let’s delete some of the template design. Click on the design element, then either hit Delete on the keyboard or click the Dustbin top right.

Add Graphics to Template
On the left side, to add your purchased graphics, simply click on one. It will now be added to the template where you can resize it. Do this by clicking + dragging a corner node in or out.
If you have the Canva Pro Version, you can use the Resize option in the top toolbar.

Edit Graphics in Canva
On the top toolbar click on Edit image. This will open a new panel on the left side where you can edit Contrast, Brightness, add Filters and so much more.

You can quickly copy a style from one graphic to another. At the top right toolbar you can edit the Transparency, add a hyperlink, lock the design from being edited, Duplicate and Delete.

Align Graphics if Needed
You can align your graphics or evenly space them in Canva. On the top toolbar click on Position to open the align options. To use the Tidy up function you need to select more than one graphic.

Flip Graphics in Canva
You will find the Crop and Flip options on the top toolbar. Click on Flip to open the two options. Now you can flip horizontally or vertically. This is also a great way to mirror images in designs.

Crop Graphics in Canva
After clicking on the Crop option, a bounding box with cropping handles will appear around the graphic. The top toolbar will change to Done and Cancel. You can click + drag the handles to crop the image then click Done.

Animate Graphics in Canva
Want to add a little fun to your graphics? You can animate individual graphics by clicking on Animate in the top toolbar. Make sure that Photo Animations is selected. Then hover your cursor over the animation options. This will give you a preview.

Page Animations will animate all of the graphics on the page.
Why not complete your template by using the text options in Canva?

Finally we can download our Canva file. Click on Share top right > Download. You can now choose a file format then click on Download.
