1- Open SCAL4 software.

2- The text tool on the left toolbar gives you 4 different options.
Standard text tool
Vertical text tool
Type on path tool
Type on arch
These 4 options can be accessed by clicking on the text tool with your mouse and holding it. the menu will appear.

3- The type tool allows you to type out regular text. fonts etc can be adjusted on the text panel. You can find a tutorial on the text panel .

4- Once you have finished typing your text, you can use the handles around the text to adjust the size.

5- Click on the text tool and select the Vertical text tool.

6- When you type with the vertical text tool selected, the text will be written vertical. You can still use the handles to adjust the size.

7- Click on the 3rd option, text to path tool.

8- If using the text to path you need to ensure you have a path for the text to use. If you do not a error message will appear letting you know you need a path to place your text on.

9- Take any shape or even a freehand line with the pen tool to create a path.

10- Click on the path with the text to path tool and you can start typing. The text will follow the path.

11- If your text is a little squashed you can adjust it by adding spaces or even ungroup the text to adjust it.

12- Lastly there is the text to arch option. Select it.

13- You can start typing anywhere on your page. the text will automatically start curving.

14- You can use the handles around your text to adjust the curved text.
