Bended/Folded Text in Photoshop

1 - In Photoshop create a “New Document”, use black as “Background” color.

2 - Select the “Type Tool” (T), choose your font (we use Myriad Pro Bold Condensed Italic). Use white as “Fill” color.


3 - Right-click on your text layer and choose “Rasterize Type”.

4 - Using the “Polygonal Lasso Tool” (L) select a portion of your text. Roughly ¾ in the center and leave out the top and bottom.


5 - Copy your selection (Command/Control + C), create a “New Layer” by clicking on the button at the bottom of the “Layers” Panel and paste it (Command/Control + V).

6 - Double-click on your pasted text layer and apply the following “Layer Styles”:

7 - Select both text layers, right-click on their thumbnails and choose “Merge Layers”.

8 - Use the “Polygonal Lasso Tool” (L) again and make another selection similar to the one before, but this time make one side slightly smaller than the other.

9 - Cut your selection (Command/Control + X) and Paste it (Command/Control + V) into another Layer. Move it a bit to the side to give the idea of depth.

10 - Double-click on your original text layer and apply the following “Layer Styles”:
Gradient Overlay:

Drop Shadow:

11 - Now, double-click on your top text layer and apply the following “Layer Styles”:
Gradient Overlay: (#)

12 - Check out your text:
